PLAYTIME PARIS
07.-09.07.2012
Playtime Paris, the international trade show dedicated to the universes of children, junior, childcare and maternity, will take place between July 7th and 9th, 2012, at the Parc Floral de Paris
THE 12TH EDITION IS ALL ABOUT:
- A unique selection of over 400 international brands offering a creative and stimulating vision of Summer 2013. With nearly 50% international exhibitors, Playtime is solidly positioned within an international dynamic and claims its position as the European leader in the creative offer.
- Dreams, the theme of our next season, will be the main story of the summer edition. Sometimes poetic, other times mysterious or nightmarish, dreams will be evident in the trend spaces as well as throughout the exhibits and activities…
- A creative and playful path designed by Le Musée en Herbe at the South entrance of the trade show aims to increase the awareness of art for the little ones, including workshops that will pay homage to Vasarely.
- Light-hearted summery music will set the tone at the traditional opening cocktail on Saturday night, a good occasion to meet over a drink. An evening animated by warmth and a good mood!

EXHIBITORS
The fashion offer for spring/summer 2013 takes a substantial leap forward with a 15% increase in fashion collections (clothing, shoes, accessories etc.).
The summer edition of Playtime reflects a clearly different makeup than that of the winter edition, which highlights a sector that is growing sharply. Indeed, the January fair places more emphasis on the layette sector, whose reduced presence in the July fair will be compensated with a greater presence of the fashion, decor and maternity sectors.

EVENTS & EXHIBITS
A new illustrator
Since its creation in 2007, every year Playtime selects a new artist to illustrate its trade fairs in Paris, Tokyo and New York. This year we are pleased to be working with talented American illustrator Patrick Hruby, who will take us on a journey through his colorful, geometric universe!
...To discover at the trade show entrances.

Dreamy dolls
At the fair entrance, Bonecas dos Sonhos will be presenting the dreams of their community back in Brazil in the form of wonderfully colorful dolls, thirty centimeter-high messengers crafted and personalized by women from the Terra e Sonhos cooperative. Each doll carries the name of its creator and a dream (‘sonho’). Available for adoption, the Bonecas dos Sonhos are a concrete opportunity to generate new sources of income for these villages that can no longer survive off of fishing. Profits will be donated to the cooperative’s «social initiatives» budget, destined for children’s education and land preservation initiatives.

A museum at the trade show… Crazy!
In a space dedicated to Le Musée en Herbe at the fair’s South entrance, big and little children alike will be sensitized to art thanks to an original pedagogy based on humor and games. Vasarely, the father of Op Art, is the “guest of honor” this season. Via a mini exhibition, creative workshops and storybook readings, stop by and discover the universe of this artist of multi-colored visions, and enter a world of colorful and deep sea planets!

illustrators’ dreams
15 original works around the theme of dreams will be exhibited not far from the Crea.tif space. This collective exhibition of words by illustrators and designers in this space, the only one of its kind at a trade fair dedicated to the children’s universe, underlines the desire of Playtime to shine a spotlight on the world of illustration, a children’s textile resource that is rich in creativity.

... Healthy
Soup & Juice will tickle our taste buds with a selection of organic hot dishes and homemade sandwiches. Whether you are looking to boost your energy, or calm down, stock up on vitamins with fresh fruit juices from the juice bar.

‘A Midsummer’s Night Dream’ by Laure Guilhot
Laure Guilhot sculpts fabric like others sculpt clay, planting shapes and growing things from a textile compost and recycled and upcycled materials; ending up with a deformed reality that is strange and evocative, and plays with the notion of improbability and anomaly.
For Playtime she creates a «a moss bed»… from which a dream is born. She inhabits the entire space, creating a «cross fade» of shapes and colors, a profusion of the imaginary.

Odd Nightmare by Mathieu Brisebras
After studying graphic design, Mathieu Brisebras pursued his training in animation. Today, he is working on an animation series and shoots his own short ilms. At the same time, he is developing his own style of illustration, using a paper cut technique. A worked based on patience that allows him to escape the yoke of technological tools and reclaim a certain serenity!
His Odd Nightmare (‘Drôle de cauchemar’) is inhabited by black shadows oozing down from the ceiling, characters that meet and mix in a macabre dance, skeletons that have escaped from a pile of confetti, chimerical monsters or hysterical creatures; all reunited to celebrate the Sabbath and laugh the night away.

Pictopia by Laurent Bazart
When he’s not busy playing video games, Laurent Bazart assembles small, « lo-fi » (low resolution) squares to construct his pixellated worlds that come to life in the shape of illustrations, shot-by-shot animations or cartoons. His illustrations grace the pages of the graphic novel publications Spirou, Dada and Pix’n Love, as well as diverse newspapers and magazines like Les Inrockuptibles, Science et Vie Junior, Télérama, Le Monde...
At Playtime he will be showing ‘Upside Down City’, his upside-down, pixellated utopia!
